About Jo Ann University Hospital
Jo Ann University Hospital is a well-known medical institution in Tbilisi with a long history in cardiology and cardiac surgery.
The medical centre was established through the efforts of American philanthropist Jo Ann McGowan and Georgian surgeons. Its original mission was closely connected with improving access to pediatric cardiac care and surgery for children with congenital heart conditions.
After becoming part of European University, the institution began operating under the name Jo Ann University Hospital and continued developing into a multidisciplinary medical facility serving both inpatient and outpatient needs.
The Client Needed More Than a Flooring Product
One of the main challenges in the local market was the limited availability of experienced installers for resilient hospital flooring.
Professional vinyl flooring installation teams were difficult to find locally, labor costs were high, and the expected construction progress could not easily meet the project schedule. The customer therefore needed a supplier that could take responsibility for more than production and delivery.
FARFLY agreed to dispatch an experienced installation team from China to Georgia. This overseas construction capability became an important factor in the customer’s decision.
For an international hospital project, the performance of homogeneous flooring depends not only on the flooring material itself. Subfloor conditions, self-leveling work, adhesive application, welding quality, wall coving and installation methods all influence the appearance, hygiene and service life of the completed surface.
Dozens of Technical Documents and Multiple Color Confirmations
The project involved a comparatively complex product configuration.
The customer selected multiple colors for different functional areas. In addition to the main PVC flooring, the project required adhesives, welding rods, backing materials, self-leveling cement, primer and installation tools.
Certain areas also required the vinyl flooring to continue upward from the floor onto the wall. This wall-coving detail required further confirmation of dimensions, material thickness, installation methods and the transition between horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Because the project involved a Georgian contractor, a Chinese supply-chain company and FARFLY’s technical team, every important detail had to be communicated clearly across languages.
During the order-confirmation stage, Chinese supply-chain company chain document the issues that Georgian engineering contractors need to resolve. FARFLY technical team then reviewed the technical points, prepared answers and installation recommendations, and worked with the FARFLY foreign-trade team to translate and reorganize the information before sending it back.
This process was repeated dozens of times.
Although the communication workload was considerable, the structured documentation helped all parties confirm the colors, quantities, accessories, wall details and construction requirements before production and installation. The customer ultimately recognized FARFLY’s professional response and project coordination, allowing the order to proceed smoothly.

Supplying the main hospital flooring together with all supporting installation materials allows the project team to manage the entire flooring system as one integrated solution.
This is particularly important for international projects. When flooring, adhesives, welding rods, and subfloor preparation materials are sourced separately, differences in specifications, compatibility, or delivery schedules can create additional installation risks.
For this reason, FARFLY did not treat this collaboration as a standard product export order. Instead, we approached it as a complete engineering project, providing a fully coordinated material package along with comprehensive project support.
Overseas Installation in Tbilisi
Before the installation team departed, FARFLY continued confirming the construction schedule, site conditions, installation procedures, tools and material requirements through project documents.
In early 2025, the construction team successfully travelled to Tbilisi and began the on-site hospital flooring installation.
The work involved several coordinated stages, including inspection of the base floor, primer application, self-leveling treatment, adhesive application, flooring installation, seam grooving, heat welding and wall-coving treatment.
For homogeneous flooring, the quality of these details has a direct influence on the completed surface. Careful cutting and heat welding help create clean and continuous joints, while proper subfloor preparation supports long-term stability.
Sending an experienced team to the site also made it possible to respond more quickly when actual construction conditions differed from drawings or earlier documents.
The installation was subsequently completed, bringing the project from sample selection and production in China through international shipment and final construction in Georgia.
The Completed Project
The completed floor uses multiple colors to distinguish functional spaces and support the hospital’s interior design. The continuous sheet-flooring installation and welded joints also create a clean, coordinated finish suitable for high-traffic healthcare areas.
